Fire broke out 21 June during the start-up of a production line at the polymers & chemicals site
Oswiecim, Poland – Synthos Group has reported a fire at its chemicals & polymers manufacturing facility in Osweicim during the start-up of a production line at the site.
Fire broke out 11:30 on 21 June and “penetrated the roof through the exhaust ventilation of the production installation,” said Synthos in a statement last updated 25 June.
Employees were evacuated immediately, and the rest of the installation was stopped, reported Synthos, adding that one person was injured as a result of the incident.
The blaze, it said, had been extinguished and production installations as well as the immediate surroundings of the “Synthos Dwory 7 production plant” had been 'secured'.
Synthos did not provide further details about its operations at the site but stressed that no hazardous substances were released during the incident.
Synthos Dwory produces a wide range of chemical products, primarily focusing on synthetic rubber, styrene plastics, latex and chemical raw materials.
