Trials at an automotive manufacturer achieve 13% reduction in injection time compared to virgin materials
Lebork, Poland – Ecopolplast has announced that its '100% sustainable' thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) Ecoplastomer has been approved for automotive applications.
Ecoplastomer PP-70 underwent ‘rigorous testing’ at a manufacturer of technical plastics items to produce parts commercially, the Polish compounder reported 14 June.
The trials also demonstrated that the TPE, made entirely from post-consumer recycled plastics and recycled tire rubber, offered a 13% reduction in injection cycle time, compared to virgin materials.
Moreover, the TPE is claimed to maintain similar density and hardness to virgin materials, enabling integration into existing manufacturing processes.
“This reduction not only accelerates production cycles but also significantly decreases energy consumption,” said Katarzyna Pokwicka-Croucher, founder and CEO of Ecopolplast.
As a result, manufacturers can save on operational costs and reduce their environmental impact, Pokwicka-Croucher added.
