European tire & rubber association co-signs the CheMI manifesto addressed to new EU legislators
Brussels – The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) has joined a grouping of European downstream chemicals users calling for fair competition and better regulation in the region.
The association “co-signed” the CheMI* manifesto on 6 June, voicing perspectives and concerns of downstream users of chemical substances or mixtures across manufacturing industries.
“As a member of CheMI, we join the other industry associations in calling on the EU legislators to consider the impact on downstream users when regulating chemicals,” said ETRMA in a statement on the same day.
The manifesto also urged the newly elected legislators to enhance market surveillance for fair competition and set the competitiveness of European companies as “as priority”.
Furthermore, the grouping called on the MEPs to “foster better regulation” by supporting “evidence-based, scientifically sound, targeted and effective” regulations.
“Duplicated and overlapping requirements as well as complex rules should be avoided to alleviate unnecessary burdens for companies, in particular SMEs,” the manifesto added.
