Installs “multiple tanks" to pump TPO in furnace black reactors for production of circular grades at Jaslo facility
Houston, Texas – Orion SA is installing multiple tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) tanks at its production plant in Jaslo, Poland, as part of its strategy to produce circular carbon blacks.
The tanks will serve as reception points for TPO delivered to the plant, said Orion in a statement 11 June.
The TPO will be pumped from the tanks to furnace black reactors, which transform the oil into circular carbon black, including rubber grades.
Orion is claimed to be “the only producer in its industry” to have made carbon black from 100% TPO.
The company produces a range of circular grades across its manufacturing facilities, including the ISCC+ certified Ecorax Nature 200, manufactured in Jaslo.
To achieve the sustainability milestone, Orion said it has been in a “collaborative effort” with other companies dedicated to advancing environmental practices, including organisations involved in TPO production.
"We are driving positive change across the industry value chain, from tire waste management to resource recovery," said Pedro Riveros, SVP global rubber carbon black at Orion.
