“Modern centre will considerably increase Metso’s capability to deliver equipment, spare and wear parts and components…”
Helsinki - Finnish industrial machinery maker Metso Outotec Corp. has opened a new distribution centre in Vina del Mar, Chile, to improve its delivery performance and customer service in the region.
The new centre replaces the old unit that served the region and “will considerably increase Metso’s capability to deliver equipment, spare and wear parts and components,” said Metso 6 June.
The facility has “a significantly larger storage capacity than our previous warehouse” and strengthens delivery to customers in Chile and other countries in South America, said Eduardo Nilo, president, South America.
The unit is located close to Metso operations in Concon, where the company operates a rubber and Poly-Met factory and a recently inaugurated, “circularity recycling solution” for rubber liners.
Metso recently revealed an expansion project at the site, increasing production capacity for rubber and ‘poly-met’ mill-linings in Concon by 30%. (ERJ report)
On the environmental front, Metso said the facility operates primarily on renewable energy and utilises sustainable packaging solutions.
These include “returnable packaging and lighter plywood alternatives”, it added.
“The new distribution center is Metso's latest strategic investment for an important customer market,” said Sami Takaluoma, president, services business area, Metso
The unit is operated by an external vendor, providing "warehousing and efficient distributor support" for Metso and its customers in the region.
