ContiTech strengthens environmental drive with new sustainability head
Anne Windberg Baarup brings “extensive materials expertise” to Continental’s industrial arm
Hanover, Germany – ContiTech, the industrial and materials arm of Continental Group, has appointed Anne Windberg Baarup as head of sustainability, effective 1 June.
The move is in support of ContiTech’s sustainability strategy, a “central focus” of which is on replacing conventional materials with bio-based and recycled alternatives.
The company has set itself the goal of manufacturing all products based entirely on sustainable materials by 2050 at the latest.
“To achieve this goal step by step, we will increase the proportion of sustainable materials in our products to 35% by the end of 2030,” said head of ContiTech Philip Nelles.
Baarup will bring “extensive experience” in the areas of materials technology, HR and organisational development to support those goals, ContiTech said 3 June.
She has been working with Continental for eight years and in her new role, she will report directly to Claus Peter Spille, head of operations at ContiTech.
Most recently, she was head of material technology solutions for Continental’s tire business, where she “actively promoted” research into sustainable materials.
“Anne Windberg Baarup will further develop our strategic priorities and activities in the area of sustainability and ensure their global implementation,” said Spille.
