Matthew Cabe to succeed Alexis Garcin, whose next position within Michelin will be announced “at a later date”
Greenville, South Carolina - Michelin has named Matthew Cabe as president and CEO of Michelin North America, effective 1 October.
He will succeed Alexis Garcin, whose next position within Michelin will be announced “at a later date,” said Michelin in a statement 24 May.
Cabe has worked with Michelin for nearly two decades and most recently served as SVP of the group's automotive regional brands business line based in Budapest, Hungary.
Prior to that, he served in a number of marketing leadership positions for the North American passenger car and light truck business.
Across his 19-year tenure with the group, Cabe has held various leadership roles in engineering, manufacturing, marketing and other commercial functions in North America and at the global level.
In his new role, Cabe will be responsible for all key customer-facing functions of Michelin North America, including sales and marketing, services and solutions, quality and supply chain units.
He will also oversee critical functions such as corporate and business services, communications, finance, personnel, information technology (IT) and legal.
Michelin’s North America region comprises the US and Canada and employs 23,500 people across 35 sites.
Concurrent with takping up the role, Cabe will also join the board of the US Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA).
Upon his appointment, Cabe said he would “continue to focus” on implementing Michelin’s sustainable mobility strategy.
This, he said, includes a “critical balance of customer centricity, financial results, respect for the environment and empowerment of our people.”
Cabe holds a BSc in mechanical engineering from Clemson University, and an MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
