With 153 employees, the company – comprising ‘performance chemicals’ and ‘custom manufacture’ divisions – generates annual sales of around £44.5 million, exporting 70% of its products via a global distribution network.

Thomas Swan produces chemical products for consumer goods applications, including home, personal and healthcare sectors, including antimicrobials, APIs, and other active ingredients.

Its 'polymer performance solutions' unit provides products for the polymer and rubber markets, including: peptising agents, polar modifiers, bonding agents and custom chemical blends.

In addition to manufactured products, Thomas Swan offers chemicals used in tire and rubber mixing, among them processing aids, antioxidants, silanes & silicas, accelerators, carbon nanomaterials, and masterbatch graphene & carbon black.

The company has established exclusive partnerships with: Molecular Rebar Design LLC, which supplies dispersed carbon nanotubes to improve toughness, fatigue resistance, and reduce heat build-up in elastomers in applications such as EV tires, as well as alternatives to 6PPD; and Robinson Bros. a specialist in environmentally friendly and nitrosamine-free accelerators,
