Bangkok – Thai natural rubber (NR) major Sri Trang Agro-Industry (STA) is 'ready' for the EU deforestation regulation (EUDR), due to come into force later this year.
STA has developed an application (ERJ report), SAP system, and other tools to connect and enable full traceability within its operations, the group said in a first quarter results statement issued 9 May.
The rubber processor said it has also organised educational activities to help farmers to comply with EUDR before the regulation becomes mandatory at the yearend.
Describing EUDR as a ‘business opportunity’, STA said that with its 'traceable natural rubber GPS' products can be “identified or traced back to their exact sources and geolocation.”
The group expects to complete a GPS rubber registration target of 100,000 farmers and rubber traders by the end of 2024.
