US opts to impose only limited tariffs on Thai truck tire imports

Preliminary ruling: Prinx Chengshan receives no antidumping duties, 'all others' incur rate of 2.35%...
Washington – The US department of commerce (Commerce) has issued a preliminary decision regarding anti-dumping duties on truck & bus tires originating in Thailand.
Bridgestone Corp. as well as ‘all others’ incurred an anti-dumping rate of 2.35% while Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) received no duties, according to the 14 May ruling.
Commerce will announce its final ruling on the case by 29 July, with the International Trade Commission (ITC) making a final determination by 19 Sept.
Official US figures show that truck & bus tire imports have been growing steadily over recent years: from 4.7 million units in 2020 to 10.1 million units in 2022.
Value-wise, imports from Thailand grew from $623 million in 2020 to $1.5 billion (€1.38 billion) in 2022, Commerce figures show.
