Rubber conferences to explore industrial challenges, fluoroelastomers
9 May 2024
UK Elastomer Group programme will next focus on use of elastomers in manufacture, FKM alternatives
London – The next event organised by Elastomer Group within the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining will focus on the topic of elastomers used in manufacturing.
The one-day conference, in partnership with the Manchester Polymer Group (MPG), will take place 16 May in the Dalton room, core technology facility, University of Manchester.
To start the conference, prof Wilma Dierkes of the University of Twente will deliver the 2024 Rubber Foundation Lecture, titled ‘Status, challenges, and future requirements for a circular economy of rubber.’
This will be followed by the following ten presentations.
- Recycling of cross-linked rubber networks – Thomas Griggs, Queen Mary University of London
- Sustainable elastomers with end-of-life strategies: controlled degradation or recyclability - Dr Sungkwon Yoon, Queens University Belfast
- Stretching 3D-Printing’s Capabilities: Elastomers in additive manufacturing - Dr Geoffrey Rivers, Nottingham University
- FKM and PFAS: Developments around regulatory restrictions - Ajithkumar Sukumaran Nair, Clwyd Compounders
- Strategies to tackle 6-PPD challenges for rubber industry - Dr Robins Kumar, Warwick Manufacturing Group
- The design, manufacture and use of hoses for oil production - Chris Myshrall, Conti-Fluids
- The influence of carbonaceous reinforcement on the conductivity of rubber compounds - Gerado Sica, Birla Carbon
- Next generation sustainable trainers - María José Munguía-Romero, Queen Mary University of London
- Applications of biomass-derived filler reinforced natural rubber composites: Oil spill absorbent and ballistic protection - Onny Rachman, Warwick Manufacturing Group
- Tandem for tyre - the solution for new regulations and raw materials - David Kiroski, HF Mixing Group
Further details about this conference, including registration and charges are available on the MPG website.
The next Elastomer Group ‘afternoon technical discussion meeting’ will be on ‘Alternatives to fluoro-elastomers’.
Speakers are invited for that meeting, which will take place 20 Sept at the institute’s HQ in central London.
