Japanese group eyes 42% reduction in scope 1, 2 GHG emissions and 25% reduction in scope 3 emissions by end of decade
Tokyo – Zeon Group greenhouse gas reduction targets for 2030 have been approved by the science-based targets initiatives (SBTi), the Japanese group has announced.
The approval confirms that the targets “align with scientific standards for limiting global warming,” said the group in a statement 26 April.
The targets, which cover Zeon Corp. and number of Zeon Group subsidiaries, envisage reducing scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions – from the group’s own processes – by 42% by 2030, compared to the 2020 baseline.
Scope 3 emissions from supply chain is set to be cut by 25% reduction by the end of the decade, Zeon added.
“Zeon Corp. and the Zeon Group recognise climate change as a significant social issue and are committed to promoting a shift in monozukuri (manufacturing) to achieve carbon neutrality,” said the group.
