French group sold facility to distributor Power International Tires in May last year
Davydovo, Russia – Michelin Group’s former tire production operation in Russia has been rebranded as Davydovo Tire, named after the location of the facility in the Orekhovo-Zuyevo district near Moscow.
According Davyodovo Tire, its facility produces passenger car and truck & bus tires, while also featuring a truck tire retreading workshop opened in 2011.
In its mission statement, the company said its goal is to “respond to current customer requests and contribute to the development of the Russian tire industry.”
Davyodovo Tire added that it will “maintain a commitment to the principles of sustainable development, a high level of tire production 'culture' and world-class technological expertise.”
In May 2023, Michelin sold its Russian operations to Power International Tires LLC, which it described as a “known partner of Michelin [and] one of the main tire distributors in Russia."
The sell-off was part of Michelin's exit strategy in response to the Kremlin’s war on Ukraine, which saw the tire maker suspend all industrial activities in Russia on 15 March 2022.
The French group entered Russia in 1997 and had been operating its tire production plant in Davydovo since 2004.
The facility has the capacity to produce 6,000 units of passenger car and light vehicle tires per day, according to the ERJ published Global Tire Report 2022.
