German rubber society DKG names new managing director

Prof. Herbert Baaser to head Deutsche Kautschuk-Gesellschaft starting 1 July
Frankfurt, Germany – German Rubber Society the DKG has named Prof. Herbert Baaser as its managing director, starting 1 July.
Baaser has “an impressive career” spanning academia, industry, and academic teaching, said DKG in a statement 8 April.
In particular, he brings “extensive expertise and years of experience in mechanical engineering, mechanics, and materials science.”
Baaser holds a PhD from the University of Technology Darmstadt, and has worked as a senior engineer for material modelling and life cycle at Freudenberg in Weinheim.
He has been a member of DKG for over 15 years and has actively participated in various committees.
His expertise covers various areas of continuum mechanics, including hyper elasticity, elastomer behaviour, inelastic material behaviour, and damage mechanics.
Baaser, continued the DKG, is “internationally recognised” for his publications and contributions to simulation techniques, damage mechanics, and lifetime predictions of metallic and polymeric materials.
