Continental names new general manager for Romanian tire factory

Timisoara, Romania – Continental Tires has appointed Serban Nicolescu as the new general manager of its production facility in Timișoara, effective 1 April.

He succeeds Matthieu Turlure, who held the position for two years and is continuing his work elsewhere, within the company, Continental announced 3 April.

Nicolescu has been part of the Continental team since 2011 and brings with him “extensive experience” in the field of production, according to the German group.

He previously held roles such as area manager in the Continental tire factory in Sarreguemines, France; production manager Continental Tires Timisoara and head of focus factory user experience at Continental's automotive factory in Timișoara.

According to the German manufacturer, the production unit in Timișoara is “one of the group's largest tire factories in Europe, and one of the biggest economic contributors in the region.”

Operational since 1998, the unit has produced and delivered over 300 million tires to customers.
