New tire presses at Des Moines facility to help reduce inventory pressure, meet future demand
Des Moines, Iowa – Titan International has completed a $2 million (€1.8 million) upgrade at its facility in Des Moines, which will see the unit increase production capacity to meet local demand.
The upgrade included the addition of a two new 104-inch curing tire presses, which will accommodate the company’s recently expanded AgraEDGE tire line, said the agricultural and off-road tire producer 19 March.
The investment, said Titan, is part of the company’s “multi-year strategic capital plan” to increase output capacity and “better serve its dealers and end-users”.
With the additional capacity, Titan said it would continue to meet demand for key large Ag sizes “well into the future”.
“This will result in a faster turnaround time between order placement and delivery, reducing the need for dealers to maintain high levels of inventory,” it added.
The investment will enable capacity increase for “premium tires” and will help position Titan to “to better deliver on the projected additional volume needed in the marketplace,” said Lester Brewer, VP North America.
Furthermore, Titan noted that the new machinery will enhance automation, safety and overall quality and productivity at the site, which has the capacity to produce 13,000 units of tire per day.
