Fast-change device said to offer 85% saving in production time on rubberised steel cord lines
Hanover, Germany - Italian rubber machinery maker Comerio Ercole has developed an innovative technology designed to raise the productivity of rubber calendering lines.
At this week's Tire Technology Expo, the company is presenting its patented Faststeel device for changing the steel cord diameter and EPI density on rubberising calendering lines.
On conventional lines, it is necessary to insert each individual steel cord into the grooves of the pressure and guide rollers, explains a Comerio Ercole release.
This process, it said, can take up to three hours, which significantly impacts productivity even on state-of-the-art equipment.
By contrast, the Fasteel system developed by Comerio Ercole is claimed to reduce this downtime to just 15-20 minutes.
That, said the Italian developer, equates to an "over 85% saving in production time, saving money for new investment."
We will report further on this development on ERJ On-line and in European Rubber Journal magazine.
