Chinese carbon black maker supplies recovered carbon black to Cheng Shin for production of bicycle tires
Taipei, Taiwan – Continental Carbon and Taiwan-based manufacturer of Maxxis-branded tires Cheng Shin have joined forces to produce sustainable tires incorporating recovered carbon black (rCB).
The project links into Ouroboros 'sustainable, regenerative recycling' technology for enhanced circularity and sustainability, said Continental Carbon’s parent group International China Rubber (CSRC).
In a 7 March statement, CSRC said Continental Carbon had developed new Continex SC branded fillers through processing waste tires into rCB and pyrolysis oil.
The rCB was then supplied to Cheng Shin for the production of “low-carbon emission environmentally friendly bicycle tires.”
According to CSRC, the new series "provides low carbon emissions and has a stable quality."
“It reduces the variability of tire production formulas and thereby cuts the consumption of resources,” added the statement.
