German group's CFO will not “seek to extend contract” after it expires at the end of the year
Hanover, Germany – Continental AG’s chief financial officer Katja Garcia Vila has informed the group that she will not be seeking another term on the executive board after her contract expires in December this year.
The decision is due to Garcia Vila’s “own career planning”, said Continental in an 11 March announcement.
She was first appointed to the Continental executive board in December 2021 and has since been responsible for group finance and controlling as well as group IT functions.
Garcia Vila will continue in her role until a successor is appointed, according to Continental.
Commenting on her decision, Garcia Vila said she had “laid the foundation for the company’s future success” over the recent years.
“The improvement in earnings in fiscal 2023 is just one example of this. Continental is well positioned for the future,” the CFO added.
According to supervisory board chairman Prof Wolfgang Reitzle, Garcia Vila helped particularly to improve results within Continental’s automotive group sector.
She also helped “increase Continental’s overall financial strength, putting Continental one step closer to its mid-term targets,” Reitzle added.
Garcia Vila began her professional career at Continental in 1997.
She holds a business administration degree and has served in various positions in IT, marketing, sales, logistics, auditing and purchasing.
