Chinese tire maker says new market opportunities will be opened up by EU Vetco certification for CO2 emissions
Hong Kong, China – Prinx Chengshan expects to advances its position in the European commercial tire market having recently gained EU 'vehicle energy consumption calculation tool' (VETCO) certification for emissions.
In a 7 March statement, the Chinese tire manufacturer reported that it had been awarded the certification by third-party testing & qualification agency TüV SüD Group.
As part of the process, Prinx said a batch of its commercial tires were shown to meet the requirements of the EU 2017/2400 regulation for CO2 emissions and fuel-consumption.
The certification, claimed the tire maker, “will serve as a milestone for the company to accelerate its entry into the European market.”
EU 2017/2400 targets fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions for heavy-duty commercial vehicles and component enterprises.
The regulation requires relevant companies to use the official energy-consumption simulation tool VECTO for detailed monitoring and identification of emissions and fuel consumption.
The requirements, Prinx Chengshan stated, also pose “a severe green trade barrier challenge for Chinese enterprises that plan to export heavy-duty commercial vehicles and components to the EU.”
According to the Chinese manufacturer, the commercial tire market in the EU has “once again opened up”, providing “fresh chances” for international business development.
Going forward, it aims to “explore the integration of green development and digital technology, while continuously enhancing its international competitive advantages.”
