Quanzhou City facility to increase ‘competitive edge’ in differentiated and high-end polyurethane market
Beijing - Sinochem Dongda, formerly Shandong Blue Start Donga, has broken ground on a 240 kilotonne per annum (ktpa) polyether polyols unit in China’s Quanzhou City, Fujian Province.
Based at Sinochem’s Quanzhou Petrochemical complex, the facility is expected to play a “key role” in the Chinese group’s latest five-year strategic plan.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year and commissioned by early 2025, added Sinochem in a statement issued 23 Jan.
Polyether polyols, it noted, are widely used in automotive interiors, high-speed rail seats, rail expansion joints, and textile applications.
Once completed, Sinochem said, the unit will expand its position in “the differentiated and high-end polyurethane market" and expand market coverage in south China and south east Asia.
