Canadian manufacturer acquires two injection moulding workcells from German-based machinery supplier
Bolton, Ontario – Silcotech North America, a Canadian silicone rubber injection moulding specialist, has purchased two new injection moulding machine workcells from Arburg.
To be located at Silcotech's Bolton HQ, the units are: a '110 US tonne' Allrounder 470 A 1000 - 290 Comfort, and a '220 US tonne' Allrounder 570 A 2000 - 400 Comfort.
Both machines are all-electric specified with liquid injection moulding LIM/LSR moulding options as well as thermoplastic moulding capabilities.
They will both be equipped with 'multilift select 8' servo electric robotics for parts removal and manipulation.
Delivery of the two machines is scheduled for this summer, continued Silcotech's announcement issued 6 Feb.
The machines are intended to address “growing business volume” and come in sizes where increased capacity is needed, said Dan Morris, business development manager at Silcotech.
Silcotech’s business, Morris added, has seen an annual growth of between 15% and 20% over the past two years and aims "to keep up that pace in FY2024 and beyond.”
“Our decision to move forward with Arburg was clearly based on our history of... using their machines,” said Michael Maloney, founder and president of Silcotech – founded in 1998.
Arburg machines feature "a sound mechanical design coupled with a very progressive control system,” Maloney further commented.
