New facility in Otrokovice can store more than 930,000 units of tires
Hanover, Germany – Continental AG has officially opened a fully automated high-bay warehouse at its tire production plant in Otrokovice, Czech Republic.
The new facility has a storage capacity of more than 930,000 tires and centralises the company’s warehouses in the Otrokovice area, Continental announced 30 Jan.
The move, it stated, will further optimise the tire manufacturer’s logistics processes, and thereby help the company to lower CO2 emissions.
The Czech facility employs robots with capabilities to dispatch tires in the warehouse as high as 43 metres, continued Continental.
Furthermore, it said, mobile stackers automatically move the tires stored on pallets around the warehouse area.
Spanning an area of 10,000m2, the warehouse also features “high racks with small aisles” that facilitate both vertical and horizontal storage.
