Group increases expansion budget by €100m to extend capacity by 12m tires per year
Shanghai, China – Sailun Group has increased a planned investment in its Cambodia tire factory: doubling the size of an expansion announced less than four months ago.
In a 30 Jan stock exchange filing, Sailun said it is investing Yuan2.2 billion (€290 million) in the plant at Svay Rieng to increase car tire production capacity by 12 million units a year.
The announcement is a revision of a decision announced in October 2023 to invest Yuan1.4 billion in adding capacity for the production of 6 million PCR tires at the site. (ERJ report)
The construction period for the new project is expected to be 16 months, but the tire maker did not provide details about when this work would start.
Once completed, the facility’s production capacity for PCR tires will be 21 million units per year, in addition to 1.65 million truck and bus all-steel radial tires.
Tires manufactured at the factory are primarily destined for North America and other overseas markets, according to Sailun.
