New tire size “filling a gap” in the company’s range of engineering radial tires
Changchun, Jilin – Linglong has produced first giant radial tire with homegrown technology at its manufacturing plant in Jilin, China.
The tire, in size 27.00R49, was rolled off the production line in Jilin 10 Jan, “filling a gap” in the company’s range of engineering radial tires, said Linglong in an announcement.
The new achievement, said Linglong, further improves the group’s off-highway tire product system, signalling “that Linglong's off-highway tire development has entered a period of rapid development.”
The milestone, according to Linglong, is an ‘important part’ of the group’s off-road tire expansion strategy of ‘3+3’.
As part of the strategy, the Chinese tire maker aims to produce off-highway tires at three domestic plants in China and three overseas units.
“Jilin Linglong provides technological support for Linglong's off-highway development in the field of giant radial tires with its intelligent and digital manufacturing capabilities,” it added.
Linglong started construction on the Jilin facility in 2020 and rolled off first truck & bus radial tires at the site in late 2021.
With a total investment of Yuan5 billion (€640 million), the Jilin plant will have the capacity to produce 12 million passenger car tires, 2 million truck & bus tires and 200,000 retreaded tires, once fully operational.
