Avon lands ‘multi-million-euro’ deal for military diving rebreathers

Melksham, UK - Avon Protection plc has been selected by the German navy to supply its ‘multi-role rebreather’ for military diving operations.??

The “multi-million euro” order includes the supply of the products and ongoing technical support, said the UK manufacturer 15 Jan.

Avon said the contract will provide "cutting-edge technologies and enhanced operability" for German military diving personnel.

Developed in collaboration with the UK’s Defence Science & Technology Laboratory and Royal Norwegian Navy, the rebreather is an electronically controlled, closed circuit, mixed-gas product.

The product is claimed to “excel” in both shallow- and deep-water military diving applications and be optimised for explosive-ordnance disposal, mine countermeasures and special operations diving.

Features are said include innovative operational functionalities that help to deliver “significantly enhanced diver safety and extended mission duration.”
