Bridgestone consolidating tire production operations in Thailand
Japanese group transfers production of PCRs, TBRs from Rangsit to two other sites in the country
Tokyo – Bridgestone Corp. has completed a consolidation of its tire production operations in Thailand: closing its plant in Rangsit and transferring production to two other sites.
The Japanese group said 27 Oct that it had fully ended operations at the Rangsit unit, which produces both passenger car radials (PCRs) and truck & bus radials (TBRs).
Operational since 1967, the 1,070-employee unit had capacity to produce 2,280 units/day of PCRs and 2,100 units/day of TBRs.
Consolidation of truck & bus radial tire production operations into the group’s manufacturing site in Chonburi was completed on 27 Oct, reported Bridgestone.
The group had already consolidated production of PCRs from Rangsit into its manufacturing plant in Nong Khae, as of 30 June 2022, its statement added.
Bridgestone said it aimed to “minimise the impact” of the move on employees and local communities affected by the closure of the Rangsit facility.
In Thailand, Bridgestone also operates a speciality tires production facility in Amata City, Rayong, where it manufactures earthmover/OTR tires.
