Continental Tires has received worldwide OE approval for 17 and 18 inch tires to be fitted on the new hybrid-drive Alfa Romeo Tonale. Continental will provide EcoContact 6, designed for “exceptionally energy-efficient and noise-optimised driving”. The tire features a special rubber compound that minimises energy absorption while the vehicle is in motion and, in turn, reduces friction and rolling resistance, according to the tire maker. In addition, the tire offers short braking distance, and high grip on dry and wet surfaces, due to asymmetrical groove and sipe geometry.
