Tokyo – Bridgestone is introducing Enliten technology-equipped to motorsport for the first time, with a tire-construction incorporating 63% recycled/renewable materials.
The Enliten tires are being customised specifically for the 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC) being staged 22-29 Oct in Australia.
To meet the demands of the 3,000km race from Darwin to Adelaide, the tires feature low rolling-resistance, enhanced abrasion resistance and low weight.
For enhanced sustainability, Bridgestone has raised the recyclable/renewable material ratio of the tire from 30% at the previous competition to 63%.
Sustainable materials being used include recycled steel, organic fibre reinforcement material, recovered carbon black, recycled rubber chemical and recycled oil.
For certain types of tires, silica derived from rice husks and carbon black derived from tire pyrolysis oil will also be used.
