Banmore, India – JK Tyre has completed the first phase of an INR10 billion (€112 million) expansion project at its tire manufacturing site in Banmore, the company has reported.
Involving an investment of INR3 billion, phase I increases capacity for passenger car radials from 3.9 million to 5.1 million units/year at the site in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
Set for completion in April 2024, the second phase is currently underway, and will add another 31% to PCR production capacity, added JK Tyre's 29 June statement.
The Indian tire maker said it had earmarked IRN6 billion for phase 2, bringing the total investment programme to nearly IRN10 billion.
Operational since 1991, the Banmore facility spans 211 acres and manufactures tires for passenger cars, trucks and agricultural equipment.
The expansion reflects our "dedication to innovation, sustainability, and … to the growth story of Madhya Pradesh,” said Dr Raghupati Singhania, chairman & managing director.
The company’s production and manufacturing capabilities are “constantly evolving” to meet the demands of customers, both domestically and internationally, Singhania added.
