First giant OTR project of country funded by four major local mining companies
Kerman, Iran – Iran’s top tire manufacturer Barez Industrial Group, in partnership with local investors, has broken ground on the country’s first giant off-the-road tire production project.
Arg Tire will be built 40km outside of the southern city of Kerman, where Barez already operates a production facility to produce 95 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of passenger car & light truck as well as truck & bus and industrial tires.
In a statement 10 Dec, Barez said four major local mining companies as well as Shasta investment fund were stakeholders in the 30ktpa plant and were fully funding the project.
The facility will be built in an area spanning 90 hectares and will be completed in three years, it added.
Once fully operational, the factory will employ 400 people and will meet "the entire" local market demand, said Barez without disclosing the financial details of the project.
