Prices continue to strengthen though China exchanges closed for week-long holiday
London – Natural rubber futures closed higher in trading weeked ended 7 Oct, while China celebrated its golden week holidays.
The news of heavy monsoon rain and floods in the Northeast and Phetchabun provinces of Thailand triggered buying pressure towards the end of the week, said the weekly report by the Japan Stock Exchange JPX 10 Oct.
In Japan, Osaka rubber futures contracts increased by 2.7% during the week, “due to active short-covering transactions,” said the JPX report.
In Singapore, the SICOM futures contracts rose 1.7% with new buying and despite light trading volume.
China's SHFE and INE markets were closed for the national holidays.
