Initial delivery for “next-generation” ballistic helmets set for first quarter of 2023
Melksham, UK – Avon Protection has received a delivery order – worth $42.1 million (€43 million) – from the US Army for the supply of ‘next-generation integrated head protection systems’.
The UK manufacturer is currently ramping up manufacturing after having completed “rigorous testing” for the helmets, said Avon in a 29 Sept statement.
Initial deliveries are set to start in the first half of financial year 2023 (started 1 Oct), said Avon, noting that the deal positioned it “as the leading helmet supplier to the US department of defence”.
"The receipt of this first delivery order is an important milestone for the NG IHPS," said the then CEO Paul McDonald.
The deal, he went on to say, is "a critical step" in rolling out the "advanced life-saving technology" to US military personnel.
The programme, according to McDonald, consolidates Avon’s position “as a global leader” in head protection technology, and specifically in high-specification ballistic helmets.
