Turkish manufacturer sees growing demand in North America
Istanbul, Turkey – Turkish reinforcement materials supplier Kordsa Inc is progressing its growth with a $20 million (€20 million) investment at its production facility in the US.
In a statement 2 Sept, Kordsa said the project will boost its tire cord production capacity in North America as demand continues to the region.
As part of the investment, the manufacturer will add a new dipping line at its facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with the capacity to produce 19 kilotonnes per annum of tire cord fabric.
Kordsa expects the new line to be operational in 2024.
“We are commissioning a second dipping line to increase our cord fabric production,” said CEO ?brahim Ozgur Yildirim.
“We continue to invest both in Turkey and abroad with great consistency,” he added.
Kordsa acquired its US facility in Chattanooga from Luxembourg-based Invista Sarl Co. in 2017.
At the time of the acquisition, the facility had more than 1 million square feet of building space, including a production facility with offices and warehousing, and 300 acres of land.
