Petra Preining steps down prematurely to pursue ‘new professional challenge’
Vienna – Semperit AG has named Helmut Sorger as its chief financial officer, effective 1 Oct, the Austrian group has announced.
He will succeed Petra Preining, who is resigning from her position prematurely “as she moves on to a new professional challenge,” said the 30 Aug statement.
Preining was appointed as Semperit's CFO in May 2021 and her contract ran until end of 2024.
Sorger joins Semperit from Vienna-based supplier of building materials and infrastructure solutions Wienerberger AG, where he most recently served as CFO North America division.
“He brings relevant technical expertise and management skills to the table on top of extensive international experience in areas such as strategic transformation and mergers and acquisitions”, said Herbert Ortner, chairman of the supervisory board of Semperit AG Holding.
Sorger will serve as part of Semperit's executive team, together with CEO Karl Haider and COO Kristian Brok.
He will be tasked to “push forward” with the roll-out of the group's growth strategy, which aims to concentrate focus on industrial sectors.
Sorger holds a doctorate in social sciences and economics.
