New centre in Hamburg capable of processing thermoplastic elastomers, recyclates
Hamburg, Germany – Lehvoss Group has strengthened its compounding capabilities with the start-up of a new tailor-made twin-screw extruder at its Hamburg location.
The new extruder, by manufacturer KraussMaffei Extrusion GmbH, will be used for the development of thermoplastic elastomer compounds, plastic compounds, recyclates, concentrates, additives and hotmelts, said the German group 17 Aug.
The high-temperature unit is equipped with various side extruders and dosing systems, and is capable of metering a wide range of raw materials such as granulates, fibres, flakes, powder and liquids.
The machine also features newly developed screws with a special design for an adapted and optimised melt preparation.
This feature, said Lehvoss, makes it possible to produce, among other things, highly filled materials – for example highly conductive plastics.
"I'm proud to now have such a future-proof system with the latest technology in our technical centre,” said Dr Linda Trosse, head of process engineering development, Lehmann&Voss&Co.
According to Trosse, first customer projects and advance developments are already underway at the plant.
