Healthcare sector offerings include silicone rubber and thermoplastic elastomer products
Wilmington, Delaware – DuPont has officially opened a new Liveo Healthcare Solutions manufacturing facility at its Cooper River site in South Carolina, the company has announced.
The new facility will expand capacity for extruded biopharmaceutical tubing to meet increased market demand, said a 28 July DuPont press release.
The site, it said, operates to the same quality standards as DuPont Healthcare Industries Materials site (HIMS) in Hemlock, Michigan – the company’s long-standing healthcare manufacturing site.
“The Cooper River site will bring additional production capacity online over the next two years,” said Eugenio Toccalino, DuPont Healthcare & Specialty Lubricants global business director.
The investment “is a key milestone in our growth strategy that will help us offer a highly reliable and sustainable product supply,” added Toccalino.
The opening of the site, DuPont said, had created 25 jobs for the startup, with another 25 expected by mid-2024 as it ramps up operations.
In addition to the Cooper River expansion, in the second half of 2022, the company is to add biopharma silicone tubing capacity in China to serve “fast-growing customers in that region.”
Last September, DuPont commissioned new medical elastomers mixers at its HIMS site in Michigan, in response to increased demand for its liquid and high consistency silicone rubber offerings.
?DuPont’s range of extruded pharma tubing includes recently introduced products based on thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) technology for fluid transport and single-use bioprocessing applications.
