Xingda to add 200kpta of tire cord capacity in Thailand

Chinese supplier investing RMB1.6bn to expand production unit established in 2019
Xinghua City, China – Jiangsu Xingda Steel Tyre Cord Co. Ltd (Xingda) has launched an RMB1.6 billion (€234 million) expansion project at its steel tire cord plant in Thailand.
With a designed production capacity of 200 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of steel cord, construction of the unit is schedule to be completed within 24 months.
The investment is intended to ”expand its global footprint and better meet the demand of its international clients, according to a company statement – supplied 27 July to European Rubber Journal .
According to Xinghua City-based Xingda, the project has recently been officially approved by China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
Xingda, a global supplier of tire reinforcement products, launched its Thailand plant in 2019, with a steel cord production capacity of 100ktpa.
The plant is said to employ advanced production equipment and technology, manufacturing product for tire makers in southeast Asia, India, the Americas and Europe.
“The expansion, once completed, would mark another big step forward in Xingda’s bid to globalize its production and strengthen its ties with the world’s leading tire makers,” the Jiangsu province company stated.
