New unit to help raise capacity for rubber components used in high-end pharma and biotech markets
Altdorf, Switzerland - Datwyler is set to start up a new plant at its Pune production site, which will “nearly double” capacity at the Indian site, the company has announced.
Scheduled for the third quarter of 2022, the launch will add 400 jobs and “increase output significantly” to meet growing global demand, Datwtler said 26 July.
Datwyler said it operates three production standards at the Indian site: ‘essential’, ‘advanced’ and ‘FirstLine’ - its most advanced approach designed to manufacture complex rubber components for high-end pharma and biotech markets.
In particular, the company said the unit is designed for the production of critical components for pharmaceutical packaging: encompassing advanced cleanroom, production, inspection, and washing procedures.
The expansion of the Pune facility originally began in 2019, making the original facility Datwyler Healthcare’s largest production operation by volume. A second plant for ‘essential’ and ‘advanced’ production standards has since been added.
Datwyler will "continuously relocate" its ‘essential’ and ‘advanced’ production units from the first plant to the new second plant. This, it said, will create space in the first plant to expand ‘FirstLine’ production capacity.
