Agreement to acquire Lindau-based MG Silikon GmbH from Saint-Gobain Group
Trelleborg, Sweden - Trelleborg Group is to acquire Lindau, Germany-based company MG Silikon GmbH from Saint-Gobain Group, the Swedish rubber products major has announced.
With annual sales of around SEK120 million (€11.5 million), MG Silikon specialises in sealing products and systems for aerospace and industrial applications.
The deal, which is being carried out through Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, is due to be finalised in the fourth quarter subject to regulatory approvals, stated the group’s 22 July announcement.
The aerospace industry is recovering strongly after the pandemic, and is expected to show healthy growth over the coming years, according to Peter Hahn, president of the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area.
With the acquisition of MG Silikon, we increase the production capacity of airframe seals and strengthen our offering in sealing solutions for cabin interiors, which is a strategic growth area for us,” said Hahn.
“Our offering for cabin interiors has been limited, but the acquisition creates new and exciting opportunities for us,” the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions leader further explained.
The German company, he noted, also manufactures engineered seals for general industry, such as building and construction, and the rail industry.
“This acquisition complements us in several important areas, and we foresee synergies in both sales and supply chains,” concluded Hahn.
