'Intelligent compounding’ concept to convert powder products derived from used tires into compound
Swiss company Tyre Recycling Solutions (TRS) is employing Buss technology to implement its ‘intelligent compounding’ concept to convert powder products derived from used tires into compounds on an industrial scale, the machinery supplier has announced.
TRS manufactures materials using an in-house process in which TPE/TPU-based polymers are compounded with recycled rubber powder, for applications including seals, logistics, automotive parts, construction products and footwear.
According to Buss, TRS opted for its Compeo compounding technology due to its combination of powerful mixing with low shear and a conical discharge pump (CDP) for pressure build-up.
“With its elastomer know-how and the ability to carry out pilot-scale production runs on the company's own campus in Pratteln,” BUSS said it “supported the development and evaluation of TRS' innovative products until the commissioning of their compounding plant at the beginning of 2022.”
Both companies are now working together to expand the product platform worldwide and install additional compounding plants under TRS license, the machinery maker stated.
