Salten Energigjenvinning to be dissolved as a legal entity under ‘merger plan’
Oslo - Norway-based silicones producer Elkem ASA is to merge ifs wholly owned subsidiary Salten Energigjenvinning AS into the group, the boards of the two companies jointly announced.
Under the ‘merger plan’ announced 18 July, Elkem will acquire all assets and rights and assume all obligations of Salten Energigjenvinning.
At the same time, Salten Energigjenvinning AS will be dissolved as a legal entity, added the statement - without explaining the rationale behind the move.
Salten Energigjenvinning was established as a 50/50 JV between Elkem ASA and Kvitebjørn Energi AS.
The company was formed to build and operate an energy recovery plant (ERP) connected to Elkem's three silicon smelters in Salten.
In February, Elkem secured 100% ownership of the Elkem Salten ERP, after acquiring the remaining 50% stake from Kvitebjørn Energi.
