Deal with Al Fairuz Projects and Investments to establish rubber powder production plant
Muscat – Oman is building a major tire recycling facility at Sur Industrial City, a Gulf of Oman industrial estate located 150km southeast of Muscat.
In a statement 27 June, Sur said it had signed an OMR 83 million (€205 million) deal with Al Fairuz Projects and Investments to establish rubber powder production plant at the site.
The facility will be developed in an area of 230,000 sqm and will adopt “cutting-edge” tire recycling technologies, said Abdulqadir bin Salim Al Balushi, director general of Sur Industrial City.
“The tire recycling project is expected to generate 212 job opportunities, of which 75% will be for Omanis,” he said.
The project official did not provide further details on the processing capacity of the plant.
Construction work is expected to start on the project in the first half of 2023 and is expected to take up to two years to complete.
