Michelin names new director for German truck tire plant
Frankfurt, Germany – Michelin has named Christian Metzger as the director and site manager of its truck and light truck tire production plant in Karlsruhe, Germany, effective 13 June.
In a statement 31 May, the French tire maker said Metzger held the same position during 2011-2014 and is returning to the Baden site to replace Fabrice Marchetti, who will assume the position of head of industrial methods for the Michelin Group for truck tires (B2B) in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
Christian Metzger, an electrical engineer, has been with Michelin since 1990.
As a project developer in the technical department, he was responsible for machine construction and head of the technology department at the French wheel factory in Troyes.
From 2006 to 2010, he took on the role of plant manager for Michelin retreading (Michelin Remix) at the truck tire plant in Homburg, western Germany.
From 2011 to 2015, Metzger was director of the Karlsruhe production plant and site manager and moved on to lead the Rhineland-Palatinate plants in Bad Kreuznach and Trier between 2015 and 2020.
Since August 2020 he has been working as the director and plant manager of the Hallstadt facility, near Bamberg, to transform the site into a cleantech innovation park.
