Debottlenecking project at German plant to increase production by 10%
The Hague, The Netherlands - Arlanxeo is debottlenecking its production plant for hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) in Leverkusen, Germany, to meet growing demand.
The investment will increase annual capacity of the facility by around 10% and is expected to be fully on stream by the end of 2022, announced Arlanxeo in a statement 3 May.
The Dutch-headquartered company said the project showed its commitment to upgrading automotive systems, oil exploration, mechanical engineering and aerospace.
HNBR is used applications such as timing belts for cars, seals for the oil & gas industry and automotive hoses.
Saudi Aramco-owned Arlanxeo produces and markets its HNBR grades under the Therban brand.
Debottlenecking "will be laying the foundation for the further increase of production capacity to meet the increasing global demand of HNBR,” the company stated.
The investment shows Arlanxeo’s "commitment to the Therban business and is setting the basis for its future growth,” added Christian Widdershoven, chief commercial officer.
