UK imposing 35% tariffs on Russian 'rubber product' imports

Move impacting materials and products follows similar tariffs on tires
London - The UK Government has imposed increased tariffs on imports of rubber products* from Russia and Belarus, its department for international trade has announced.
Rubber products are among a list of items on which tariffs have been increased by 35 percentage points, under the 21 April announcement.
Together these products are estimated to represent an annual trade worth around £130 million worth of products from Russia and Belarus.
The UK has also expanded its list of products facing import bans so that it will now be imposing import tariffs and bans on over £1 billion of Russian goods.
“Legislation will be laid in due course to implement these measures,” noted the release, adding that “the overall scope of products affected by existing and planned tariff increases will remain under review.”
On 25 March, the UK announced additional duties of 35% on Russian and Belarusian imports of ‘new pneumatic tyres of rubber’.
*The UK’s full list of ‘rubber and articles thereof’ facing further additional duties (35 percentage points) comprises:
4001 - Natural rubber, balata, gutta-percha, guayule, chicle and similar natural gums, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip
4002 - Synthetic rubber and factice derived from oils, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip; mixtures of any product of heading 4001 with any product of this heading, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip
4005 - Compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip
4008 - Plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber
4009 - Tubes, pipes and hoses, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber, with or without their fittings
4010 - Conveyor or transmission belts or belting, of vulcanised rubber
4015 - Articles of apparel and clothing accessories (including gloves, mittens and mitts), for all purposes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber
4016 - Other articles of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber.
