Fluoroelastomer compound harnesses the properties of two high-performance materials
Wolverhampton, UK – UK rubber processor MacLellan has introduced a ‘nano PTFE-filled FKM’ for applications in the medical, food, biochemical and petrochemical Industries.
The product is said to combine two high performance materials to arrive at a better material with low friction, low gas permeability and improved wear resistance,
During polymerisation, a homogeneously mixed compound of FKM and PTFE results in the PTFE particles effectively being coated in FKM and creating bonds at a molecular level.
The resulting material has enhanced physical characteristics and mechanical performance across a range of sealing applications.
The material can be supplied as moulded sheets for gaskets and seals or as a compound for moulded and extruded parts.
