Japanese group has capacity to produce 1.6 million tires/year at Lipetsk plant
Tokyo – Yokohama Rubber Industries will “gradually stop” production at LLC Yokohama RPZ, its Russian subsidiary which manufactures passenger car tires.
In a statement issued 18 March, the Japanese manufacturer said the suspension of activities was ‘due to the current problem of raw material procurement’, caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
“Yokohama Rubber hopes that the situation in Russia and Ukraine will be resolved as soon as possible, and that the peace and safety of all people will be secured,” it added.
Based in Lipetsk, in western Russia, LLC Yokohama RPZ has been operational since 2012 and employs 733 people.
The plant has a production capacity to manufacture 1.6 million tires a year, according to ERJ’s Global Tire Report 2021.
