RIEG event to discuss sustainable elastomers in tires

UK-based group announces two more events for June and September
London – UK-based Rubber in Engineering Group of IOM3 will be hosting an online session on the sustainability of elastomers, particularly in tires.
The session will be part of the Global Research and Innovation in Plastics Sustainability event, which will be held online 15-17 March.
The event will bring together companies and individuals to highlight ‘the best of activities’ aimed at preventing the landfilling or incinerating of plastics.
The RIEG session will look into tire particles as a major sources of ‘microplastic’ in the oceans and increased focus on making road transport more sustainable.
Dr Joe Hallet, technical service manager, Birla Carbon will chair the event which will be participated by David Greenfield, managing director, social, environmental & economic solutions (SOENECS) Ltd; Professor James Busfield, chair | professor of materials & national teaching fellow, director of industrial engagement & head of the soft matter group, RIEG | Queen Mary University of London as well as Lewis Tunnicliffe, product design and development manager, Birla Carbon.
The next RIEG event will be held on 17 June and will focus on elastomers used in electric vehicles (EVs), championed by Dr Julien Ramier of Schlumberger or Izaak Watson of Martin’s Rubber.
On 16 Sep, the group will host an afternoon on elastomers in high energy radiation, supported by Izaak Watson or Stephen Millington of Artis.
In addition to its technical afternoon events, the RIEG is also helping organise and promote the events by the International Rubber Conference (IRCO).
Those include the rescheduled IRC2021, which will take place in Nuremberg, Germany 27 - 30 June.
Also supported by RIEG, RubberCon 2022 will take place in Kuala Lumpur 6-8 Sept, while IRC2022 will be held in Bangalore, India 24-26 November.
In 2023, the RIEG will be hosting RubberCon 2023 in Edinburgh, UK on 10-11 May. The call for papers of the event is now open.
