‘Significant milestone’ to support global increase in agricultural tire demand
Seregno, Italy – Off-highway tire maker Balkrishna Tyres Ltd (BKT) has rolled out the first radial agricultural tire at its new expanded Bhuj manufacturing facility, in eastern India.
The company broke ground on the €95-million expansion project in May last year and achieved the milestone stage in ‘record time’, said a BKT statement 4 March.
To be ramped up over the next six months, the new 12-acre facility will add 50 kilotonnes of capacity to BKT’s flagship Bhuj production site.
“BKT has strategically chosen to significantly expand its tire production to meet the global increase in the demand of tires particularly from the agricultural sector,” said BKT announcing the production start-up.
According to ERJ's 2021 Global Tire Report, BKT manufctures 159,000 tonnes a year of agricultural, earthmover and industrial tires at the Bhuj plant.
